Description
It's always fun to watch and listen to the chatter between the cranes in the fall before they get ready to migrate. This was a scene in the field behind our place.
The display is amazing when it is time to migrate and all the sandhills gather in groups. Their loud calling to other cranes is often deafening. The cranes have spent the summer in and around the swampy bogs of the nearby wetland area where they have raised their young. Sometimes you can see two babies with the parents shortly after they have hatched. Many times only one will survive. Now they are preparing for their long journey to the south for the winter months.

We have Sandhills here, also. Great work on these birds and on the surroundings as well. L&F

Thank you Carolyn! This scene was in the field next to the campground in Wisconsin. We loved seeing them there every summer.
