Description
This watercolor painting began as a desert still life
but evolved into a nature scene with a pair of roadrunners sharing a lizard.
I like to think the male roadrunner brought the lizard
to the female as a gift.
The clay pottery is from my patio garden and it is filled
with many succulents that have been growing rapidly.
The old wooden wheel is a piece that I have had in my
collection of hard to part with things from the past!
My son found a pair of old wheels in a neighboring field
when he was very young and I have kept them with me
wherever I have landed ever since.
You can still see bits of red paint on the wooden
rim and the seam where it was put together so many years ago.
I have always had a fondness for the adobe structures
of the Southwest and felt this arrangement just needed
a cracked wall with lots of texture to show off
the plants and the old wheel.
I have taken a few photographs of roadrunners around
the area so I felt they just needed to be part of this arrangement also.
It is my first time including them in my art.
