Description
A beautiful macro photograph of the Baja Red Fairy Duster bloom.
These southwest native plants attract hummingbirds
as well as other bird species.
The flower fans out when in full bloom giving the impression of a duster!
There are several varieties of fairy dusters and many colors also.
Besides this shade of red, they also can be seen in various pink tones as well.
They thrive in the sandy, gravelly slopes and desert washes
in Arizona and New Mexico.
I photographed this flower at the Desert Botanical Garden in
Phoenix, Arizona.
The garden there is a wonderful place to view the various
native plants of the Arizona desert area
as well as deserts from around the world.
They also have a wild flower garden, butterfly garden,
hummingbird garden and bee garden.
In the spring months the garden has a beautiful butterfly
exhibit that includes species from all over.
In the fall, they have a Monarch butterfly exhibit as well.
