Description
This watercolor painting portrays the typical Spanish or Mexican villages with the adobe walls and arches in warm clay tones nestled around cobblestone courtyards where the mercado or markets are held. Tlaquepaque is such a market place in Sedona, Arizona that is filled with art galleries and gift shops. It has wonderful displays of Mexican tile in bright primary colors that adorn every stairway and many walls where fountains of various styles sparkle with the water flowing. Several desert type plants surround the area in terra cotta pots or Mexican pottery. Santa Rita cacti are resting on this tile ledge next to agave plants. Sycamore trees adorn the Oak Creek which runs through the shopping village. I added Mexican ladies and a little girl with her dolly just to add more life to this already inviting landmark .
