I have such a fondness for the Spanish Mission style churches that I have found during my travels in the Southwest. Arizona has many, many of these beautiful, old buildings and it is such a pleasure to see them when they have been kept in good repair and taken care of with such loving care.
This one, Our Lady of The Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church is located just a block off the main highway in Miami, Arizona. I had a chance to walk around the grounds, and visit the breathtaking interior. Most of the stained glass windows have that intense cobalt blue glass as the dominant color and when the sunlight shines through into the sanctuary it just takes your breath away. All of the wonderful artwork, woodwork and beautiful statues make this a place everyone would enjoy visiting.
This church is now in the National Register of Historic Places since 2008. It was originally built in 1915.
I have painted several other churches in the past and will plan to do more of these in the future.
