Description
Returning from a long ride checking on their cattle herd,
these ranchers are anxious to get out of
their saddles and into the warm, toasty ranch house
where the fires are burning
and their evening meal is waiting for them.
*******************************
It's been a long day and the horses are tired.
Smoke is coming from the chimney
of the old log cabin that they call home.
*******************************
A few aspen trees are beginning
to turn the golden color
that autumn brings and the fields
are now taking on the rusty hue
that indicates they are dying down and
winter is soon approaching.
*********************************
Hopefully the old tin roof won't need too much repair
before the snows set in.
Fences have to be inspected one more time
and the cattle rounded up again.
A cowboy's work is never done!
**********************************
The inspiration for this watercolor painting came
from watching an episode of
"America's Heartland" and I fell in love
with the scenery and the peaceful
serenity that this landscape portrayed.

What a lovely scene - I'll bet the original was even more impressive. Love the riders approaching the cluster of buildings.
