Don't Fence Me In Part One

Description
This painting is meant to be the first companion piece forming a triptych with "Don't Fence Me In". In this piece, I wanted to include several different mustangs galloping free as the wind across the desert plains. As the painting evolved, I realized that the mountain in the center resembled Red Mountain, which is a very recognizable mountain northeast of the Phoenix area. That inspired me to include an impression of Four Peaks in the background, since that is also a famous landmark in the Arizona mountain ranges.
I have always had a fascination for wild horses and the symbolism of the historic and pioneer spirit of the West that they represent.
What a thrilling experience to be able to see a herd roaming
the desert floor or near a mountain range!
I merely put all the elements together to portray the freedom that the
wild mustangs still can enjoy in the wilderness. Hopefully, that will
never change and future generations will still be able to view these
magnificent creatures.
May they never be "fenced in"!
