Description
This image is a cropped section of the original painting,"Twilight At Blue Bridges". It depicts the river scene of La Crosse, Wisconsin where the famous "Blue Bridges" were constructed over the Mississippi River. River activities in the area include many tug boats attached to barges transporting products up and down the river. The local paddle boat, the La Crosse Queen, gives tours of the Mississippi River and the Black River from the Riverside Park boat dock. Several large tour paddle boats, such as the Queen of the Mississippi, the American Queen, the American Duchess have scheduled stops at the riverside docks during the summer months.
This view of the city of La Crosse and the blue bridges is from the Minnesota side of the Mississippi River. I chose a sunset or twilight time frame so that the beautiful reflections of the lights on the river could be enjoyed. Many hotels, office buildings and cathedral spires are depicted along with the eagle statue and the Indian statue in Riverside Park.
