Description
This watercolor of a desert scene at the base of Picketpost Mountain near Superior, Arizona, was inspired by a photograph I took while visiting Boyce Thompson Arboretum. This desert scene is within the trails of the botanical garden where many different plants and cacti line the paths. The sunlight that back lit all of the saguaro on the hillside was the outstanding view in the park that day. I added a coyote for interest and the idea came to me that I needed a roadrunner also! The oranges and reds of the autumn season just sparkled among the rocks and ledges. Picketpost Mountain was a beautiful shade of blue in the background.
