Grandpa's Summer Harvest

Description
This watercolor painting was inspired by my recent paintings titled "Grandpa's Clipper Sled" and "Grandpa's Red Flyer Wagon". After completing both of them I felt another companion painting was needed to continue the series of more memorabilia, plus it now has become a series of the four seasons. The fall scene will follow soon!
Here is Grandpa's garden that he has just begun gathering the summer harvest of tomatoes, corn on the cob, cucumbers waiting to become pickles and a couple heads of lettuce. All the vegetables have been rounded up in vintage containers such as the old wooden wagon, a galvanized wash tub, and an old wooden bushel basket. The red pump along the picket fence is waiting to fill the old wooden pail so the garden plants can be watered. Grandpa still uses the old wooden and metal hand cultivator to conquer the weeds! Many flowers adorn the fence around his garden along with the arched rose trellis plus Oriental poppies blooming in the foreground. A Ruby-throated hummingbird is sampling those flowers.
This painting fits perfectly on the right side of the spring scene, "Grandpa's Red Flyer Wagon" and number 4 in the series will be a fall scene.
