Description
It is a mild, partly cloudy day in the midst of a springtime thaw in the state of Vermont. Snow still lingers in drifts and yet has melted enough for dried cattails and weeds to peek through. The pond in the foreground still has ice, however, it is at the melting stage and wouldn't hold much weight! Maple trees are abundant in this country scene and many of them have buckets hanging on them that will collect sap for maple syrup production. These wooded, rolling hills in blues and purples look so inviting in contrast with the rusty colors of the leafless maple trees. A red barn is barely visible behind a row of trees.
