Description
The "lingering spirit" on the steps represents Sedona, the lady for whom the city was named.
Perhaps she is observing a modern day mother and child as they stroll among the beautiful courtyards, remembering the long ago days in her village.
"Sedona" is ascending the stairway in Tlaquepaque near the quaint little chapel in that village.
Tlaquepaque, a village within the city of Sedona, has many art galleries, shops and restaurants besides the inspiring little chapel.
All buildings have been constructed of adobe in the Spanish architecture.
Sedona is a beautiful city in Arizona between Phoenix and Flagstaff.
It is nestled among the gorgeous red rocks of the region and is a great tourist place to visit. A must see in the area is the Red Rock Crossing State Park that is probably one of the most photographed scenes in the world
with Cathedral Rock as a backdrop.
It has appeared on many calendars depicting one of the best scenic spots in Arizona.
This watercolor painting by Marilyn Smith is full of interesting detail including the fountain surrounded by pots of flowers, the stairway lined in Mexican tiles, the handmade rugs hanging from the railing above, the textures in the cobblestone street, the iron gate leading to the courtyard and the adobe chapel with it's bell tower. It is a wonderful example of Spanish architecture.
