Description
This is a photograph of the Night Blooming Cereus cactus that can be found in many areas of Arizona and the desert southwest, though they are not native to the region.
These lovely white and maroon flowers will open during the nighttime hours
and generally will last for one day before they wilt and drop off.
Apparently that is time enough for the bees and bats to enjoy the nectar and
perform their duty of pollination.
Most cacti will produce several blooms at a time and over a period of many days ensuring the possibility of seeing at least a few of these
gorgeous blooms.

Hurrah for having your artwork chosen to be a featured piece on our homepage this week. You have many fine pieces in your portfolio of your works, and I am happy you chose this one to submit for possible featuring in our group on the homepage. It now has reached that goal of being featured in our group, a family of friends and fine artists of the Wisconsin Flowers and Scenery Group. Congratulations on this fine accomplishment
