Description
This is a watercolor scene of the well-known Goldfield Ghost Town near Apache Junction, Arizona. This reconstructed 1890's gold mining town is a fun place for tourists to see. They have a typical bank robbery/gunfight several days a week and local residents dress in period costume for the show. The ghost town is seated in the desert with a beautiful view of Superstition Mountains. The Mammoth Saloon and Steakhouse is a great place to dine or have a drink on the outdoor patio where you will almost always see horses tied to the rail, waiting for their riders to head back home after lunch. This little western attraction has many museums and shops along with a train ride that takes you around the perimeter of the town. The green multistory house in this painting was a Bordello "back in the day" and it is now a museum with hostesses dressed up as Ladies of the Night. On top of the hill is an old wooden church that holds services on Sundays, complete with organ music and a fine sermon by the pastor. Gold panning is available along with a mine tour. This is a great family place to visit with the Old West theme.
