Description
I took this photo here in Chandler, AZ, of my neighbor's Easter Lily cactus or echinopsis, when it was flowering in her cactus garden. I was so enthralled at the intricate detail in the center of this beauty plus the color variation and the soft petals. What a contrast with the spiny, sharp thorns of the host plant! These cacti are usually covered with blooms but this one flower just stood alone and made such a perfect spotlighted feature. The most common color of the Easter Lily cactus is white. However, this pink or salmon color are quite popular and it is certainly my favorite color. These cacti are very common in gardens around the Phoenix, AZ area. They can also be seen at the Desert Botanical Garden there.
