While visiting the Phoenix Desert Botanical Garden several years ago, I spotted this lady wandering among the various bright orange, yellow and purple blooms near the wildflower portion of the garden. Her orange hat and orange and purple dress just blended so perfectly with all the blooms around her that I had to snap a photo. I really had no idea at the time that I would keep returning to the photo with the hope of eventually turning it into a watercolor painting. I am so glad that this was the right time to take on the challenge. Of course, the person in the garden was not allowed to pick any flowers but I felt the basket of flowers was just what the painting needed to be complete. I think she was actually trying to get a photo of the hummingbirds that frequent the area and that was what I was actually doing too. The Desert Botanical Garden is the most wonderful oasis in the city of Phoenix and is a must-see for anyone visiting the area. It covers several acres and includes ever...
