This is a country church and landscape in the autumn that I painted for my parents many years ago. It reminded them of their roots all around the Lone Rock area in Wisconsin.

Marilyn, I've been lost in this beautiful work of art for the last while ... can't pull my eyes away from the sweetness of the vision. I'm singing "Come To The Church In The Wildwood" ... even tho your church is white ... it seems to sing that song to me. Just perfect in every way ... from composition to its story. But most especially, I'm just in awe of your perfect use of light and shadow. The color of the sky is so perfect ... so right for the way the light falls on an autumn day ... the darker sky, but the where the sun strikes, there's a richness and glow we don't see at any other time of year. Just ... completely ... awesome work!!!! l/f and t and p

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and kind comments Nikolyn. That means a lot to me.

I can see why your parents loved this painting - what an idyllic scene, and beautifully framed. I love that the church is the heart and focus of this - my eye goes right to it - even though in scale it's quite small in comparison to the grandeur of nature. That seems symbolic to me.

Oops, Sorry Marilyn, I accidentally called you Sharon, though, "Sharon" is a very nice name, too. (-:

What a perfectly peaceful pastoral painting, Sharon! I love the old wagon wheel leaning against the birch trees, and the little whit chapel off in the distance. L/V&Fp
