I have always been fascinated by the way of life that the Amish continue to carry on through so many generations. It is a simpler way of life and yet much more difficult than modern day farmers. The work is much harder when it is done by hand and without the convenience of today's technology and equipment.
This landscape country scene is a real schoolhouse and yard in Wisconsin. It was built by the local Amish community and the neighborhood children walk to school or come by horse and buggy if they live any large distant away. It is not uncommon to see them walk down the country roads in the bare feet during the warmer months. These children are dressed in their typical attire which includes plain colored clothing, black pants for the boys and men with straw hats or black hats, ankle length dresses of various colors for the females and their bonnets that are always so crisp and ironed perfectly, and sometimes black or white aprons.
