Description
This watercolor still life by Marilyn Smith represents an array of hand painted Mexican pottery from the area of Jalisco, Mexico. The trademark colors are generally blues and browns on cream or gray pots. Many types of vases and bird or animal figures are created in Tonala and include the characteristic flor de Tonala or Tonala flower in a bright royal blue color. Some animals such as the frogs or the little owls have the signature big eyes. The quail next to the tall vase is a vase that I have and love. These five pieces are displayed here on a whitewashed wooden table top placed next to an orangy or rust colored adobe wall. Great art for a kitchen, dining room or any room that needs a little bit of Mexico to brighten it up!
