Summer In Sedona
Artist
Marilyn Smith
Medium
Painting - Watercolor
Description
I painted this watercolor from a photo I took in the little village of Tlaquepaque that is within the center of Sedona, Arizona. It is a shoppers paradise with lots of art galleries, gift shops, a little chapel and lots of restaurants and courtyards that are all paved with various Mexican tile. Stairways to upper shops and galleries are also lined with beautiful tile along the walls and on each stair riser. There are lots of wrought iron gates in passages that lead you from one courtyard to another where you will probably see a large water fountain. The entire village is made up of adobe buildings and it is nestled along the Oak Creek.
I added the yellow lab dog resting on the red carpet to give a little more color and interest to the painting. The dog's name is "Summer" so it fit perfectly into my title!
