Description
This watercolor painting, "Successful Search", by Marilyn Smith depicts the ancient days of the Lakota Indians hunting for the buffalo herd that will supply their tribe with meat and clothing for the upcoming winter months. Included in this scene are the majestic mountains in the west with grassy foothills flowing down to the golden prairie where the buffalo love to graze. Perhaps these Indian hunters have been searching the area for many days, hoping to find this herd and prepare for the chase.
My paintings are usually a composite of places I have been, photos I have taken or research I have done on historical happenings that fascinate me.
I hope my love for the west and the southwest comes through in my artwork.
