Description
This watercolor painting showing fresh snowfall on the red rocks is perfect for holiday cards, Christmas cards or large prints. The famous icon of Cathedral Rock near Sedona, Arizona has appeared on many calendars, post cards, photographs and is always recognizable. This beautiful state park in Arizona is called Red Rock Crossing and is on the Oak Creek which flows through canyons, the city of Sedona and beneath the rock formation of Cathedral Rock. Around every bend in the creek is a new and wonderful surprise for the viewer. I chose to portray this lovely scene in soft colors on a cloudy, snowy day. The Red Rock formations are reflected in the flowing Oak Creek with lots of snowy shadows on the foreground rocks. Snow is clinging to the bare branches up above where leaves have recently fallen and floated down the river.
