Description
This is a tribute to "Snowball", a Madison, Wisconsin icon many years ago. Anyone that has lived in the Madison area for several years is no doubt familiar with this figure. James Adam Riley was a homeless man, working as a window washer on State Street and loved by all that knew him. The Wisconsin State Journal called him "The gentleman professor of philosophy and window washing". In his younger days he worked in construction in the area. No one ever really knew much about him, not even his real age. Snowball loved to collect ballpoint pens, which he carried in the pockets of his overalls. He died in 1975 during gall bladder surgery. He left this world with no trace of any family.

Incredible painting, Marilyn, and a wonderful tribute to Snowball! It's sad to think how many other kind soles like him are in his situation and we never really know their stories. F/V

This is a very honorary and resplendent water color piece of art work, Marilyn! I enjoyed reading the description that accompanied the beautiful painting. There is so much to "read into" this piece, if one only knew the true story! Thanks much for sharing this wondrous and honorable painting with us, Marilyn! You get the big, "Elvis" F/V on this spectacular masterpiece!
