Monet In Chicago
Artist
Marilyn Smith
Medium
Painting - Watercolor
Description
I was inspired to paint this Michigan Avenue street scene
after visiting the Claude Monet Series Paintings Exhibit at the Chicago Art Institute in
Chicago, Illinois in 1990.
It was so exciting to me to be able to view the actual paintings
of such a famous artist and one that I have admired for so many years.
We spent several hours strolling along Michigan Avenue
after viewing the exhibit and just taking in all the surroundings,
including the Smurfit-Stone Building that you can see in the
background of this painting.
I was fortunate enough to connect with the collector
of this piece so that I could bring it back to life on this
website after all these years,
It was such a wonderful reminder of the great times we
had exploring Chicago, taking a boat ride on the river,
dining in great restaurants, and visiting the Shed Aquarium.
I hope everyone enjoys this scene as well.
