Description
This image was chosen in 2013 by the National Association for Blind Veterans to be used for greeting cards to benefit the Veterans.
I painted this scene after visiting Dubuque, IA and riding the historic 4th Street Elevator (Cable Car) to the top of the hill and back.
The Cable Car was built many years ago for people living on top
of the hill so that they would have an easier and shorter distance
to commute to the downtown area.
We had ice cream at this little shop when we returned to 4th street.
The atmosphere here just felt like days long ago when things were
more relaxed and people could enjoy time with their children.
When I began this painting, I knew it had to reflect those days.
