Description
I do see many eastern bluebirds in our area during our summers in Wisconsin so this little painting just emerged from the typical surroundings
we have to enjoy here. The bluebirds brilliant colors are the first thing
that will catch your eye as that flash of bright blue is hard to miss!
The male is brighter than the female, though she also has the blue coloring along with the orange and white breast that the male has.
The babies are adorable little fluffs of brown speckled feathers, tinged
with spots of blue.
I have always been a fan of the birch trees so it seemed appropriate to include
them in the artwork. We do see lots of little streams and creeks running
among the meadows and roadsides where the seem to pop up out of nowhere.
They always have such interesting reflections and movement. Sometimes they are really slow moving, as is the one portrayed here.
Watching a pair of bluebirds make a nest and raise their young is always
a fascinating life cycle in the bird world. We have watched them raise
as many as three families during one summer in the same bird house.
Even the young members of the previous batch will return to the area to
take part in feeding the newest family members!
