Description
A day at the beach is always a moment to remember.
These children are trying so hard to make that umbrella stand up in that soft sand and the wind is blowing a little too hard!
They are probably so anxious to get that umbrella in place so that they are protected from the hot sun and they can begin making sand castles.
Chances are, they won't play under the umbrella, but Mom insisted they have some protection from the sun.
They are enjoying being at the beach and watching the waves roll in just over that sand dune behind them.
A small inlet has provided just enough water that washes onto the sand and the rocks so it makes a safe place to play.
This watercolor was a lot of fun to create, especially the reflected light and colors from the umbrella onto the little girl's sundress and sun hat.
This is just an imaginary place on the ocean, but it could be any beach along the coastline.
I wanted to portray a happy, relaxed feeling for the children spending a long, lazy day playing on the beach.
