Description
Bluebirds are one of my favorite birds and I had the pleasure of seeing and photographing the Western Bluebird while on a trip to the Sedona, Arizona area. I was actually near Bell Rock just outside Sedona when I spotted several of the bluebirds in a tree near a walking trail. This family was created in my world finding a great nesting site in an old fence post on a rocky ledge with a fantastic view of the inspiring red rocks of Sedona. I decided to include a few Arizona wildflowers growing among the sand and rocks. Sunflowers frame the post, which is wound with lots of old, rusty barbed wire. Orange globemallow grows at the base of the rustic post along with owls clover and a few desert marigolds. Mother bluebird has just captured a bright green moth for her babie's breakfast and landed near the nest where two of her brood are peeking out in hopes of being lucky enough to grab the morsel! The father is perched on the wire, watching and protecting his family until it is his turn to hunt for food.
