Description
This is number five in my cactus series paintings. This is an unusual view of the blooms on top of the golden barrel cactus. These round barrel-like plants have ribs from the top to the very bottom of the cactus which are lined the entire way with thorns that can be very harmful to anyone that comes in contact with them. The flowers are a bright, brilliant yellow color that last a very short time and then dry into brown thistle-like protrusions. Surrounding each of the blooms is a soft cottony substance that many variety of birds love to pluck and line their nests with.
