Description
This painting is meant to be the second companion piece forming a triptych with "Don't Fence Me In". In this piece, I included several different horses, along with a new foal, pausing for a drink at a scarce watering hole. They are being observed by a black stallion that may be attempting to make this band his own! As these paintings evolved, I realized they would make a great panoramic scene when hung together, as well as individual pieces of art.
I have always had a fascination for wild horses and the symbolism of the historic and pioneer spirit of the West that they represent.
What a thrilling experience to be able to see a herd roaming
the desert floor or near a mountain range!
I merely put all the elements together to portray the freedom that the
wild mustangs still can enjoy in the wilderness. Hopefully, that will
never change and future generations will still be able to view these
magnificent creatures.
May they never be "fenced in"!
