Description
This is an overdue painting for my grade school teacher who is 98 years old. She always encouraged me to pursue my art talents. This is my gift to her.
This painting was meant to stir memories of days long ago when one room school houses were a very important part of country neighborhoods. This particular school house is near Lake Mills, Wisconsin. Of course, it no longer is used as a school house. I am sure it is sitting empty now, or possibly has even been torn down after being a floral/art shop for several years.
I attended there for 8 years, not counting the years I ran over to play whenever the children came out for recess! We lived next door to the school on Brick Street Road, thus the name of the school--Brick Street School. The teacher that I had for the majority of my years there always encouraged me in my art.
Growing up in the country gave us the chance to be close to all the neighborhood children. It was a great time in our lives. It had to be very challenging for our teachers as many years we would have migrant worker's children attending classes there and usually they did not speak English. The students were encouraged to help each other learn both languages. That was a long time ago and certainly is "My Brick Street Memories".

Maybe "days gone by", but nicely captured by your brush and colors for future generations!
