Description
This tiny little two-toned gray bird known as a verdin, is only found in the southwest area of the United States. The adults have a yellow head along with a shoulder patch of chestnut brown. These very active little creatures can be found in the desert shrubs and love to tug at the red-orange flowers on the cape honeysuckle bush. They build large grassy ball-shaped nests with side entrances. Our little visitor really loves a fresh orange slice at the feeder and comes back for every last tiny morsel and then chatters for more! They are hard to capture in a photo as their movements are very quick and it is rare that they will sit still for very long.
