Description
This is a photo of the original 5 x 8 ft. commission wall mural that I painted in acrylics on a living room wall. A desert scene was requested with lots of saguaro cacti along with other desert plants, including the agave, aloe vera, yucca and various cactus that are in bloom. The red rock in the foreground sports petroglyphs in Navajo likeness portraying the owners journey to Arizona where they ended up in a village near the San Tan Mountains. Also in the foreground is a family of Gambel's Quail that are always seen running in the desert sand looking for something to eat. I shaded the wall around the mural to look like a large window with an arch that matches other openings in the house.
This trompe l'oeil painting is by Marilyn Smith
For a suitable framed print of this scene visit "A Trail To The San Tans" in my Southwest Gallery.

Marilyn, I love Arizona, and your magnificent painting reminds me of my stay at a resort near Scottsdale earlier this year. The details and rich colors of this simply gorgeous desert scenery are impeccable. Absolute perfection in this Gold Medal image. Outstanding composition! F/L
